N200 also known as UNS N02200, is considered commercially pure 99% wrought nickel, one of the toughest metals. Its characteristics include excellent mechanical properties, a low gas content, low vapor pressure, magnetic properties, and high thermal and electrical conductivity. These properties and its chemical composition make Nickel 200 fabricatable and highly resistant to corrosive environments. It is useful in any environment below 600° F, as well as highly resistant to corrosion by neutral and alkaline salt solutions. Nickel 200 also has low corrosion rates in neutral and distilled water, it can be hot formed to any shape and formed cold by all methods.

Principal Design Features:

Commercially pure (99%) wrought nickel, basically unalloyed but containing minor amounts of other elements usually totaling less than 1%.


Applications:

Electronic parts, aerospace and missile components, handling equipment and food proccessing, rechargeable batteries, surgical equipment.


Machinability:

Commercially pure nickel is soft and "gummy" to machine. However it can be machined with standard tooling. High-speed-steel tools work better than carbide tooling and it is important to maintain a high positive rake angle on cutting tools.
